Role Description This position will be responsible for managing and executing the distribution of plate-based subsets and compound collections for Hit ID screening, using laboratory automation systems and associated local and enterprise level applications. Other responsibilities include: (a) connecting and coordinating with the Plate-based Pharmacology Group (PPG) of screeners, Project Teams, and the HTS POC regarding medium and high throughput screening plans, identifying the best distribution strategy from a thorough understanding of the screen and the Research portfolio; and (b) leadership in the CMD labs through streamlining of Hit ID workflows and coordination of daily operations, and managing contingent resources across the various workflows in accordance with the flux in demand. Responsibilities - Operate various laboratory automation systems to receive, store, and distribute solvated samples - liquid handlers, container handlers, sealers, labelers, readers - Use local and enterprise applications for tracking and maintaining inventory - MatTrack, GCM, Titian Mosaic, ATK, PVC, among others. - Partner with screeners, exploratory project teams, and the HTS POC to understand and deliver their medium and high throughput screening needs, delivering with speed and quality while practicing sample stewardship. Work with stakeholders to prioritize, maintain, and execute a medium and throughput screening plate provision portfolio. - Collaborate with team members to continuously find ways of improving and simplifying workflow and ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery of requests. - Track workflow metrics for Hit ID plate provisioning, draft and revise SOPs. Provide and respond to feedback to and from the Groton screening community. - Partner with GO to ensure laboratory and building utilities and facilities are at peak condition Qualifications - Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or related field, with 8 to 10 years of compound management or lab automation experience, relevant experience in Hit ID plate provisioning. Masters degree in with at least 5 years of relevant experience in Hit ID plate provisioning. - Hands-on experience with common laboratory operations, expert knowledge of operation of liquid handling systems and other automated plate handling instruments is preferred. - Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required, Visual Basic, SQL, familiarity with Oracle databases is a plus. - Experience in Hit ID plate provisioning, plate-based screening, or compound management - Theoretical and applied knowledge of liquid transfer. - Applied knowledge of laboratory automation systems used in plate based workflows. - Expert level knowledge of liquid transfer to ensure accurate delivery of compounds. - Ability to propose multiple options / solutions for compound management problems. - Competent in using plate based lab automation systems - Makes good decisions in a timely manner, sometimes under tight deadlines. - Understands how to separate and combine tasks into efficient work flow. - Steadfastly pushes self for achieving results and delivering to agreed-upon goals. - Is seen as a team player and is cooperative.
