Sr Staff - Information Systems Engineer

Organizational Objective/Purpose: The Availability Management team's primary objective is to ensure maximum availability of Schwabrsquo;s Production Environment. The team is also responsible for production readiness of new projects and consulting with business and technology teams on new business processes. Availability has the primary role of leading service restoration activities for all of Schwabrsquo;s critical applications. In addition, team members provide exceptional leadership skills to management; business leaders and peers as well as mentoring and facilitating training for junior staff members with a goal of improving overall skills. Brief Description of Role: As a Senior Staff member in the Availability team your primary focus will be to lead and direct service restoration activities during customer impacting incidents with the goal of restoring service to our customers as quickly as possible with minimum disruption to the business, thus ensuring that the best achievable levels of availability. You will be expected to continually optimize the capability of the IT infrastructure, services and supporting organizations to deliver a sustained level of service availability that meets business requirements. Additional responsibilities and tasks include: Proactively Address and lead availability Improvements Minimize operational risk during the implementation of a new enterprise systems (Go-live) Perform ldquo;change reviewrdquo; and ldquo;approvalrdquo; for DCO organization Ensure ldquo;changerdquo; awareness for ITO organization Provide technical mentoring of ITO staff and management Provide design and engineering consulting as required Ensure system support processes are well documented and available to ITO in a way that ldquo;staff" consider clear, complete and effective for their "knowledge intensive" jobs. Technical/Functional Qualifications: Required minimum qualifications include: 6 to 8 years of experience in Windows, Linux, or Mainframe at an advanced skill level. Demonstrated experience of at least 2 years in a similar role of coordinating service restoration activity across multiple technologies. Technology includes: Windows in multi-tiered .NET infrastructure, Solaris, Red Hat Linux, AIX with HACMP, Veritas product suite, web services, MS Clustering, SAN/NAS, Database technology. Experience with IIS/Web services in a load balanced Active Directory global infrastructure. Experienced working with TCP/IP, DNS, and traffic flows. Demonstrated ability to understand multiple technologies and how they inter-relate and integrate. Ability to manage complex technology, architecture and design initiatives. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and technical understanding to take complex technical concepts and present them to a range of technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to exercise sound judgment and make timely decisions considering all alternatives during a crisis situation. Demonstrated ability to envision, create and implement creative solutions to problems. Ability to participate in 24x7 support schedules with some travel. In addition, ideal candidates will also have the following desired qualifications: Bachelorrsquo;s degree in computer science or information technology Experience in Financial Services Provide leadership and direction on actions for service restoration following defined processes during incidents or problems. Ability to work in a dynamic enterprise class data center with the technical skill required to restore service for applications, systems, and platforms in an integrated technology environment. Provide leadership and development of staff including coaching and feedback. Work closely with key technology vendors, and engages with working groups. Provide analysis, design, planning, performance optimization, and communication as needed. Develop positive relationships with business and technology organizations. Program, project and staff management as well as superior communications with the ability to influence at the executive level.
