Staff Accountant

Hays Interim Accountancy Finance have been asked by an exemplary organisation to locate a Staff Accountant of the highest-level to play a pivotal role within the business. The Staff Accountant will have experience of managing and maintaining accounting services, relationships within the business and using US GAAP closing accounting methods.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to work as needed. Must possess the ability to analyse business trends and project future revenues and expenses. A sound knowledge of European and company policies, procedures and regulations as related to accounting. This assignment is for a 12-month period and may become permanent for the right candidate and is based in Leicestershire.

Responsible for:

· Prepare, examine or analyse accounting records, financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy
· Develop, maintain and analyse budgets, prepare periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs
· Responsible for monitoring all inventory transaction in the general ledger
· Update and maintenance of standard costs in the system
· Monitor and manage discrepancies due to lost/damaged and incorrectly booked inventory
· Explain variances between standard cost and purchase costs to management
· Ensure Sales/Cost of sales/margin variances are explained in a timely manner to the Managers.
· Good knowledge on Capital Accounting.
· Responsible for all Fixed Assets ledgers for all entities
· Ability to differentiate between Capital and Expense cost

Skills and abilities required:

· To maintain the inventory and Capital Accounting Supervisor will demonstrate knowledge and ability to independently handle accounting issues.
· CIMA, ACCA, ACA fully qualified or equivalent qualification
· Supervisory skills as the position will have direct reports
· Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills are necessary for this role as there will be a high level of process improvement required.
· Full knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ERP systems of any kind plus any other accounting software.
· High level of initiative, excellent judgement and strong organisation.
