Velcro USA Inc., the leading manufacturer of hook and loop fastening systems, is currently seeking a Staff Process Engineer. Provide process engineering support, leadership and solutions to Operations to sustain and improve performance for new and existing manufacturing products and processes. Lead continuous improvement and corrective action projects with a systematic approach focused on process optimization and external/internal customer satisfaction in a manufacturing environment. Understand customer requirements and align product specifications with process capability to minimize the cost of poor quality.
Essential job functions include:
· Develop, maintain, and update Project Charters and Implementation Plans (includes, establishing project scope, anticipated gains, required resources, timelines, etc.).
· Regularly utilize planned approach to manage project resources, track progress towards completion, manage scope, and present overall status to stakeholders.
· Lead and set direction for project teams to identify and minimize variation in manufacturing processes.
· Utilize appropriate statistical and data analysis tools and a structured problem solving approach to characterize and improve existing processes and translate customer requirements into repeatable and capable manufacturing processes.
· Plan and conduct experimental tests, analyze process/test data and reports to determine if new products, processes, and tooling meet functional and performance specifications.
· Establish and implement control plans to ensure project gains and improvements are realized and maintained over time.
· Support transfer of project solutions or new processes to on-going operations, through
validation, development of standard operating procedures and documentation, and assist in operator training where applicable.
· Act as technical liaison to product and equipment development groups, which will involve participation on design review teams and/or project teams. Develop product and equipment specifications to ensure resulting process (es) are manufacturing capable.
· Conduct industrial engineering studies and work with Cost Accounting to verify accurate cost models.
The successful candidate must have:
- B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Plastics Engineering or other related field.
- 5 to 15 years experience in a similar manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of assigned area manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts.
- Demonstrated usage of statistics and probability tools.
- Demonstrated usage and application of engineering / problem solving tools (including, Process Mapping, FMEA, DOE, Gage RR, Hypothesis Testing, Regression Analysis, Capability Analysis, Control Plans, etc.).
- Working computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office software.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, communication, project management, and meeting facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to self pace learning including book, web-base and classroom participation through application of learned methods.
- Working knowledge and utilization of specialty software such as Minitab, MS Project, AutoCad, ect., as appropriate.
