The Strategic Consultant 1 leads a team of marketing people and drives the department goals and objectives providing clear direction and insights to the team and to business partners. He/She defines the scope of the team projects and oversees the strategy and execution of local marketing plans, product messaging strategies for member communication and marketing collateral. He/She provides oversight, management and coaching of direct reports ensuring high quality marketing communication that reflects Kaiser's point-of-difference and unique care delivery to a broader market.

This role also works closely with Brand Creative and Creative Directors and leads the development of creative briefs, messaging strategies and creative development.

Key to success in this role is strong consumer marketing and/or ad agency experience in Account Management or Account Planning, excellent people and communication skills, knowledge of integrated marketing strategies and tactics, the ability to work with cross-functional business partners in a collaborative way and the ability to work in a large organization with many levels of management. Strong leadership and communication skills are a must.

Key Responsibilities:

- Drives multiple complex, high visibility projects at the same time
- Sets the strategic direction for the given marketing project and leads the marketing sub-team
- Takes an active role with business partners to drive creative recommendations and direction
- Has knowledge of industry trends and subject matter expertise
- Works in tandem with Strategic Projects to develop specific product initiatives or marketing plans
- Drives solutions to marketing issues providing a clear point-of-view and knowledge of business that enables the team to make business decisions and move projects forward on time
- May oversee work of consultants and project managers

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in writing and editing, leading marketing communications projects for diverse market segments, audiences industries, and developing and implementing strategic and tactical communications plans.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues in simple terms, both verbally and in written form.
- Demonstrated skills in communications project management from concept through completion
- Familiar with computer-based publication design, reproduction output processes, and software programs such as: Dreamweaver, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project
- Proficient in software used by the department
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Marketing, Advertising or Design required

Preferred Qualifications:
- Health care industry experience preferred.
- Portfolio of work samples preferred
