The Team

Role Purpose
The Managing Consultant will be responsible for the management and delivery of consulting projects as a member of a team typically drawn from Upstream Consulting staff (Edinburgh, London, Singapore and Houston) and Energy Research (Global).
Main Responsibilities
Project Management:
- Project Planning – defining course of action to accomplish goal of assignment
- Determination and tracking of consultancy hours required to satisfactorily complete projects
- Organise proper resources for projects
- Implement agreed assignments
- Chair project meetings and make appropriate contributions
- Determine mutual understanding of scope of work of proposals prior to client presentation
- On time Delivery and Presentation of agreed assignments
- Close of assignments with client
- Review and close off project internally (project review, individual review, etc)
- Identify follow-up and resale opportunities
Analysis:
- Upstream knowledge required
- Identify and obtain sources of information
- Keeps abreast of developments in the Energy industry
- Ability to apply industry knowledge to consulting assignments
- Ability to choose appropriate analytical resources for an assignment
- Critically analyses information
- Apply analytical approach to assignment
- Develops models to support analysis
- Generates options and concepts
- Writes and edits reports (own and on behalf of others)
- Prepares and oversees preparation of presentations
- Follows Consulting procedures and methodologies
Communication/Influence:
- Shares information with team (and Research/Client Mgt)
- Promptly responds to queries from clients
- Keeps client informed of progress at all times
- Initiates client contact as needed

Knowledge and experience
Significant experience within the Upstream sector with a strong understanding of operations, business models and strategies. Some experience in a consulting environment is beneficial.
