Position Description
Morgan Stanley's Municipal Securities Division ("MSD") is seeking an Associate candidate to join their Student Loan Group. The Student Loan Group is in a joint venture with the Securitized Products Group in FID and works jointly with SPG to provide capital markets solutions and financings to the student loan market. The Student Loan Group is responsible for managing relationships with both nonprofit and for profit student loan agencies and companies and executing bond and other transactions with our client base, including mergers and acquisitions with the Financial Institutions Group in IBD.
The Student Loan Group is looking for a seasoned junior professional with some deal execution experience. Must have an interest in specialty finance and securitization markets. This professional would will be involved in all aspects of the business including, but not limited to:
• New business development
• Preparing presentation books
• Writing proposals in conjunction with the rest of the team
• Deal Execution including documentation work
• Cash Flow Modeling and other tasks as required in the execution of bond and MA transactions
Please note that there will be heavy client interaction and some moderate US travel.
Skills Required
• Bachelor's degree
• Master's degree (MBA preferred) with a concentration in finance, accounting or economics
• Minimum 1-2 years experience as an associate in asset backed securitization or in financial institutions investment banking (preferably specialty finance)
• Excellent quantitative skills
• Must have strong deal execution skills
• Candidate must be detail oriented with strong writing and communication skills
• Experience in financial modeling
