Reporting to the Manager, Treasury Finance Technical Reporting, this role forms part of a team that is responsible for the financial reporting and accounting for the hedging strategies applied by the Asset and Liability Management (ALM) business unit of the Santander UK Group.

As a Supervisor - Hedging your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
* A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 years of post qualification experience
* Previous experience in a Treasury Finance / Product Control function or extensive audit experience of financial institutions / financial instruments
* Excellent communications skills (both written and oral)
* Strong technical accounting knowledge, especially IAS 32/39 (including IAS 39 hedging requirements)
* Excellent knowledge of financial instruments including:
* interest rate derivatives and
* money market instruments such as funding, bond, and cash instruments.
* Excellent MS Excel skills with MS Access desirable

As a Supervisor - Hedging your main responsibilities will involve:
* To produce all IAS 39 hedging documentation (including hedge effectiveness testing) necessary for applying hedge accounting within the Santander UK group, and to perform all necessary reconciliations for the business unit under the Account Ownership and Reconciliation Process ("AORP") for hedging purposes.
* To prepare all necessary analysis to ensure the IAS 39 hedge accounting is complete and accurate, and in accordance with Group accounting and risk policies. This will require the preparation and posting of manual journals where necessary, and the review and analysis of automated postings.
* To produce the hedge analysis and disclosures required by Group Finance and Santander Madrid Finance in monthly hedge disclosures
* To ensure that there is a full audit trail for all accounting and reconciliation processes, and ensure that the control infrastructure around the reconciliation process is robust
* To prepare the necessary analysis and data for the financial reporting of the relevant business areas
* To perform accounts reconciliation of retained earnings, investment in subsidiaries balances, processing of dividend payments, tax journals and potentially any other ad hoc ledger analysis as required by the business.
