SVP/Dir – Regulatory Risk & Control recruitment
By creating strong partnerships with business leaders and other departments (notably Compliance and IT) the Regulatory Risk and Control Lead will support business areas in deciphering upcoming regulatory changes, and help them implement appropriate controls to meets these requirements. In addition, the Lead will provide independent oversight over the status of the control environment for the specific geography they are responsible for. They will act as subject matter expert and 'go to' point of contact for key regulators and regulations and engage both regionally and globally to roll out wide remediation programmes with a regulatory focus.
Responsbilities:
- Strengthen relationships with Compliance Regulators of AP regions.
- Monitor and understand Regulatory updates/changes, assess impact and implement.
- Monitor Regulatory incidents address root cause
- Oversee Regulatory audits/inspections
- Input into local and global Governance (monitoring reports)
- Adherence to global Group Risk policies Standards
- Cross-business incident root cause review
- Involve in internal and external audits
- Represent AP region in relevant Global Initiatives
- Work closely with local Risk and Control Officers (RCO's) to ensure that all regulatory control requirements are fully embedded in the BAU.
- Identify and monitor regional/global Operations Regulatory control themes
- Perform regional deep-dives/testing of control themes and drive remediation (where
- required)
- Create Regional framework (where required) and engage global counterparts for
- consistency
- Assess and govern impact of changes/projects to controls framework
- Increase teams' awareness of Regulatory Risk Control
- Roll out regulatory risk and control training programmes as required.
Requirements:
- Degree level (or above) level of education required.
- Technical understanding of investment banking and wealth management products
- Experience in delivering high quality independent control assessments
- Detailed understanding of the APAC regulatory landscape, with areas of expertise in one of more countries/locations, including India, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan.
- Language skills to match location regulatory expertise.
- Expertise in one or multiple regulatory themes and legislations, including client money, Regulatory Reporting, KYC, Dodd Frank, Trade Transaction reporting.
- Exposure to regulators and experience in regulatory interactions.
- Understanding of risk and control discipline.
- Experience of working in a complex matrix management environment.
- Highly commercial and 'in tune' with the business. Balances the needs of the business group and the firm with aggressive regulatory programmes and timetables.
- Proven influencing and communication skills with the ability to influence senior individuals
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
