Syndicate Accountant recruitment
Reporting to Head of Finance, the Syndicate Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely production of the financial accounting information required by management and external parties.
Other Principal duties for this role include:
- Prepare all returns and Provide quarterly reporting pack for the Syndicates
- Assist the Life Underwriter in preparation of forecasts
- Ensure the ledger reconciles to data held in other systems – Open Box Resq
- Investigate any discrepancies in the integrity of the data
- Responsible for the preparation and posting of the reinsurance transactions based on information received from the RI Dept
- Responsible for production of management accounts including reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
- Responsible for statutory reporting including preparation of audit files
- Monitoring of actual v forecast results
In conjunction with the Head of Department:
- Preparation of budgets
- Development implementation of a robust financial control framework
- Development of accounting policies in accordance with UK GAAP IFRS
- Key player in the project team for development of systems to meet Solvency II and latest IFRS requirements
- Supervise staff provide training development
- Document maintain internal controls procedures
- Manage the process of broker coverholder reviews
Requirements for this role include:
- Qualified Accountant with significant exposure to insurance general management accounting
- Track record of success when working to tight deadlines
- Self starter who is continually looking to make improvements able to drive change
- Highly numerate with excellent communication skills
- Personable but determined will have a constructive and can-do relationship with interfaces
- Supportive team player
- Sound IT skills
- Project work will form a key part of this role as we look to transform our systems and processes to meet the new regulatory challenges. Consequently, the individual must be able to think flexibly and develop ideas in a changing environment.
