Responsibilities

The Division of Information Services is currently seeking a talented individual to fill the role of System Administrator. The System Administrator possesses a high degree of technical; skills in regards to server hardware and operating systems. Technical responsibilities include configuration, installation, and implementation of systems as required. This is a challenging task due to the rapidly changing technologies we deploy. Chief responsibilities include maintaining the integrity, reliability and support of the existing NUnet LAN server service. He/she shall contribute to the implementation and maintenance of this service as well as NUnet, the university-wide, high speed, computer networking initiative. Provide Tier 2 and 3 support and service to Information Services and the Northeastern community. This position will enable the university to accrue the benefits made available by its multi-million dollar investment in NUnet. To ensure that essential services are provided to the university community, the employee will be required to work outside their regular working hours as needed.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelors Degree in computer science or equivalent experience preferred. 5+ years in a Windows network environment. Microsoft Certified Professional required (MCSE a plus). Experience in systems configuration and installation required. Strong knowledge with server applications: Microsoft W2k with AD, Terminal Services, SQL, IIS, Domino, Microsoft Clustering, MOM, SMS, Citrix VMWare. Superior troubleshooting skills required. Applicant must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
