Systems Administrator (SOHQ)

Airgas South, Inc., a subsidiary of Airgas, Inc. the nation's leading distributor of industrial, medical and specialty gases and welding supplies, is seeking an SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR with a concentration in Telecommunications skills to join the IT team in our Kennesaw, GA regional office.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the complete server hardware and software lifecycle. This includes (but is not limited to) the evaluation and recommendation of network server hardware and software, maintenance and reporting of systems trends and security risks, proactive log auditing and reporting, monthly server maintenance, quarterly business continuity testing, change management procedures, and recommended migration to new technologies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Manage VMware ESX 3.x virtual infrastructure
* Configure and manage Pillar SAN LUNs
* Monitor server and LUN disk space and health through quotas and reports
* Monitor and manage all server application, system, and security logs
* Evaluate and act on all server operating system and hardware break/fix issues
* Manage configuration of layer two and layer three switches
* Monitor and evaluate abnormal data traffic patterns
* Develop working relationships with server/SAN/layer two hardware and software vendors
* Schedule and perform monthly server maintenance
* Test and implement server and end user operating system patches
* Test and implement PC, laptop, and server firmware upgrades
* Manage Group Policy settings
* Generate server security audit reports for management
* Detail server change management
* WSUS review, testing, approval and follow-up for all Divisional assets
* Perform business continuity training and testing
* Responsible for UPS monitoring/reporting/testing
* Responsible for all server, end user, and phone system backups
* Maintain software license compliance database
* Assist in SharePoint intranet configuration
* Perform SQL server maintenance and database development/training of end users
* Maintain and manage DHCP
* Serve as Tier Three Helpdesk Lead
* Other duties and projects as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university in Computer Science, Network Administration or related field
* Excellent communication skills
* Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator certified
* Technical writing skills

* Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines
* Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and background
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Skills in prioritizing and dealing with multiple tasks
* Strong problem solving skills

* Willing to improve skills and techniques by attending classes on employee's own time
* Must be able to work overtime when necessary
* Ability to routinely lift 25-50 lbs., and occasionally lift 51-80 lbs
* Prolonged sitting, up to 8 hours required
* Occasional bending, climbing, kneeling required. Prolonged finger manipulation in typing, and installation of components
* Must be able to travel to various locations throughout the Southeast
* Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace
