Director, Corporate Strategy

Job Description:
Purpose/Role Statement

The Corporate Strategy and Research Director is responsible for managing a team that:

Develops and drives the global strategic planning process, including providing guidance to divisions and regions and consolidation of corporate strategy
Builds capability that will provide centralized competitive intelligence for senior executives and divisional counterparts
Works closely with Corporate Business Development and Portfolio group to ensure strategic alignment
Manages Knowledge Resources team

The Director will actively manage projects in collaboration with senior management to maximize business impact.

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Corporate Strategy and Research is responsible for leading and sustaining a “best-in-class” team within the Corporate Strategy and Research group.

He/she will be responsible for:

Developing and driving annual global strategic plan process, including recommending and communicating strategic focus, developing guideline materials and supporting documents/analysis, and managing the corporate wide process and timelines.
Consolidating strategic plan outputs and supporting Senior Management and Board of Directors presentations.
Collaborating with Corporate Business Development and Portfolio group and Corporate FPA to ensure strategic alignment in RD allocation, MA recommendations, and maintenance of top growth initiatives.
Building and managing Corporate Competitive Intelligence function that provides key competitive insights to organization and is a hub of expertise and linkage to division experts.
Being the expert on the methodologies and processes for assessing the marketplace. These may include identifying growth opportunities, diagnosing customer needs and behavior, understanding competitive dynamics, and measuring market trends.
Managing Knowledge Resources function that provides best-in-class access to secondary market research resources and key information sources.
Collaborating with Marketing Strategy and Analysis to ensure optimal utilization of primary and secondary market research information.
Building effective working relationships between Corporate Strategic Planning and Research, Divisions, and Functions.
Ensuring that staff is hired, trained, developed/coached, and incented to meet business objectives of Corporate Strategy and Research and clients efficiently and effectively.

Strong relationship development/collaboration with Corporate Business Development and Portfolio, Corporate Finance, as well as a broad set of other stakeholders across the company
Development and implementation of structured, practical, fact-based approach to strategy development, valuation, and business plans.

Qualifications

Outstanding interpersonal skills including developing relationships at all levels in an organization and influencing business objectives.
Bachelor's Level Degree required. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
Experience in the healthcare industry in one of the following functions required: consulting, marketing, market research, portfolio planning or business development.
Experience must include at least 4 years of people management.
Experience in building and executing multi-faceted, long-term, strategic plans based on business challenges.
Successful leadership, project management and mentoring experiences.
