Systems Engineer I
Job Description:
This position is for a Systems Engineer with technical and communication skills needed to support ongoing and emerging programs. The candidate will support requirement analysis and hierarchical decomposition, development of system architecture and assist in the planning and coordination of system IT and delivery to customer/user site. Additional duties may include correction and update of documents, contribute to presentations, support design reviews, support customer requests for information and recommend appropriate configuration, equipment and software changes to satisfy requests. Candidates must be professional, self-starter and possess a positive attitude. It is important that the candidate has a willingness to learn program/organizational processes and procedures and be willing to recommend improvements to both.
The ideal candidate will have taken course work in basic systems engineering/system architecture design theory and process and good oral and written communication skills.
Required Experience:
- Possesses a technical background in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology field
- Ability to work well in teams and communicate effectively both formally and informally
- Understands Architecture Design Concepts
- Knowledge of requirements analysis, development, traceability, and verification
- Understands Computing Environments, COTS and Virtualization/Cloud technologies
- Familiar with integration and test processes and tools (automation)
- Knowledge and experience with Engineering Design Tools
- Familiar with Change Management process and tools
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secruity Clearance (Top Secret/SCI)
Desired Experience:
- Laboratory or summer intern work experience participating in design, development or systems integration activities
- Engineering background in Intelligence and/or Information Systems
- Experience with the following MS Office applications: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio
- Security Information Assurance/Protection concepts and techniques
- Experience working with Interface Control Definition (ICD) documents
Required Education:
- Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, MIS or Physics from an accredited college in engineering or scientific discipline
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. (Please include your transcript with your resume)
This position requires the ability to obtain a government security clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.
