Systems Engineer (Job Number:301305) Description: Systems Engineer JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides full-time dedicated technical support to the Director for Engineering, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Provides technical support for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Director for Engineering. Responsibilities include the development, analysis, and presentation of products associated with Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Engineering. Drafts engineering policy briefings, mission statements, reports, and official letters of correspondence issued by MDA/DE and MDA/DE/E. Rreviews BMDS documentation, develops recommendations, prepares supporting documentation, and coordinates proposed recommendations with engineering functional organizations and other MDA directorates. Attends BMDS reviews, prepares meeting summaries, coordinates with government and contractor technical personnel, and briefs senior management as required. Qualifications: TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: EDUCATION AND TRAINING: A Bachelor of Science (BS) technical degree is required. A Masters Degree is required. Minimum 15 years general engineering experience Must be effective in performing frequent interactions with engineering leaders (Senior Executive Service, O-6, GS-15) in a multi-service, civilian-military organization. Must have experience in the DoD/Service system acquisition and systems engineering processes. Work experience at the highest levels within the Department of Defense or Federal Government is desired. A strong technical background and understanding of ballistic missile system characteristics is highly desired. Results oriented, demonstrated achievement in providing solutions to complex management and programmatic challenges is a must. Technical analysis and action officer abilities are a must. Should have strong technical writing skills and experience performing "Chief of Staff" duties including drafting technical letters of guidance and direction, policy documents, engineering plans, strategic briefings, and letters of correspondence concerning interagency communications, commendations, award nominations, condolence, memorandums for the record, etc. CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Current DoD Secret security clearance and eligibility for Top Secret is required.
