Team Description:

The Treasury department provides cash management services within the BNY Mellon TA Operating Model. This includes the reconciliation of cash and stock accounts on behalf of clients. The Reconciliation Team Leader is responsible for the production and quality of reconciliations, MI and subsequent resolution of exceptions.

Job Purpose:

Process Management (day to day)

Ensure all reconciliations are completed in accordance with agreed service level standards, BNY Mellon Corporate Policies, FSA rules and guidance and industry best practice. Report and resolve any identified breaches.

Monitor and control output from the reconciliation process generated to ensure accurate and timely resolution of exceptions and provide relevant Management Information along with recommendations to enable reconciliation exception clearance. Ensuring there is an adequate audit trail of activity.

Identify any trends/issues and implement targeted and timed resolution plans to clear exceptions. This will include co-ordination of efforts with other departments.

Timely escalation where items do not clear within SLS.

Develop SmartStream in conjunction with Projects to provide tactical system solution development and provide technicial and system support to both Brentwood and Pune

Comply with all corporate policies and procedures within the department.

Identify, assess and escalate business risk, internal controls effectiveness or any other issue impacting Business as usual processes.

Staff Management

Day-to-day management of reporting administrators and technicians.

Maintain Issue logs and action lists for direct reports

Take an active part in team meetings and ensure they are the appropriate forums for discussing current issues and for sharing ideas

Maintain individual development plans set by Team Manager and provide technical training and coaching for direct reports

In conjunction with Team Manager, address any staff issues in accordance with corporate policies

Maintain a training matrix for all staff

Develop and maintain a positive working environment

To deputise for the Team Manager and look to develop as part of a succession plan into a Threshold Competent staff Member

Technical Skills, Knowledge, Systems Knowledge (and associated skill level)
As a high profile figure within the Treasury department the Team Leader must possess strong oral and written communication skills and be able to demonstrate a record of effective man management. Although directly accountable to the Treasury Team Manager the successful Team Leader will be expected to demonstrate initiative in the organisation and prioritisation of the teams day to day tasks whilst taking into account approved processes and procedures. As a mentor the Team Leader will be expected to lead by example whilst displaying excellent motivational skills and a commitment to the development of the team.

Academic/Professional Qualifications (or equivalent qualifiers)
The candidate should have experience in a bank or similar financial institution, which would ideally have been spent gaining active, practical reconciliation experience in a similar role.
Team Leader must be, or prepared to become, Threshold Competent. At BNY Mellon this means that they must pass the Securities Institute IOC (Formally IAQ) Merit Award within two years and pass an internal assessment.
