Canadian Tax Manager-Mining

Our client, a large mining company in Vancouver is looking for a Canadian Tax Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will be working in a group to deal with complex tax compliance/planning issues for our client. This position will play an integral role in the growth of the department, and in achieving the organizations objectives regarding tax planning, analysis and compliance.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • Responsible for the Canadian and US quarterly and annual tax provision requirement

  • Liaise with tax authorities and outside advisors

  • Develop and implement tax strategies which minimize tax risk and maximize taxable benefit

  • Preparation of taxable income projections

  • Implementing controls and procedures to monitor our Canadian tax compliance

  • Comply with internal controls over financial reporting and disclosure controls

  • Assist with due diligence on acquisition targets

  • On-going tax research

  • Managing and providing documents and support for external tax audits

  • Ad hoc projects on an on-going basis

    The ideal candidates must have:

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field
    A minimum of 4 years of tax experience
    An accounting designation (CA,CGA, CPA or CMA)

  • Advance knowledge of tax laws
    Excellent supervisory, analytical, and leadership abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    A commitment to learning in a tax environment

  • CICA In-Depth Parts 1 and 2 Completed
