Morgan Stanley's Investment Products Tax Group (IPTax) is responsible for the delivery of tax services to the various Morgan Stanley sponsored investment products. In Asia, IPTax is responsible for both the tax structuring of deals as well as the US and local tax compliance related to the investments that are owned by various Morgan Stanley managed funds.
IPTax Asia is looking for a professional to assist with the oversight of service providers in relation to US tax and local tax compliance for Morgan Stanley fund investments across the Asia Pacific region. The successful candidate will also assist with overall deal support along with the senior members of the IPTax Asia team.
Reporting to the regional head of IPTax Asia, the responsibilities will include:
- Oversight of the tax compliance (both US and local taxes) services provided by external service providers
- Coordination with various internal and external global tax teams as well as the various deal teams and other relevant parties to ensure the timely delivery and completion of tax compliance information and requirements
- US tax planning and compliance advice, in particular, in relation to the US controlled foreign company ("CFC") and Passive Foreign Investment Corporation ("PFIC") regimes as well as check-the-box planning, and partnership advice etc
- Providing US tax compliance implications and advice in relation to the acquisition, restructuring and disposal of investments in the region
- Leading and coordinating risk management based review of local tax compliance including coordination with various internal and external tax teams and various deal teams
Skills Required:
- 5 to 10 years of tax experience
- Strong US tax compliance skills, preferably with a focus on international funds
- Experience with risk reviewing tax compliance in multiple jurisdictions
- Desire and ability to innovate compliance processes
- Ability to undertake significant responsibility with a minimum of supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A dedication to teamwork
- Excellent project management skills
