The Opportunity

Reporting to the Superintendent – Mine Engineering, you will:

The Responsibilities

·         Provide safe and efficient leadership of the Engineering Services team comprising of ventilation and dewatering design, survey, and small operating projects

·         Conduct a team of engineers and technicians in supporting a combined underground and open pit operation

·         Provide technical support in the development and the implementation of financial models as they related to mine operations; applied as a proactive method of managing cost data for performance analysis and forecasting

·         Provide guidance for and review of documents and operations pertaining to mine planning, drilling and blasting

The Requirements

         University degree in Engineering

         Min 5 years’ experience in a mining related field; with experience in underground mining ventilation, dewatering, services and construction

         Excellent computer skills, experience with report writing, documentation control and GSAP familiarity

         Eligibility for registration with NAPEGG and possession of, or the ability to obtain, a NWT Supervisor Level 2 certificate

         Proven technical capability, strong leader qualities, good organizational skills and a desire to deliver quality results while leading your team in a safe and cost effective manner


The successful candidate will be required to have good interaction and communication with both underground and surface personnel and all other departments on site. Striving for continuous improvement and problem solving as a challenge to the success of the position. The incumbent must reside in Yellowknife as the preferred rotation of this position is 4 days on site, followed by 3 days off.
