Team Leader, Asia Swaps recruitment

Project Summary and Position Overview:

Reuters is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and numerate journalist to head its Asia Oil Swaps Forward Curve team.
The successful candidate will lead a team of three that covers daily activity in the Asian oil swaps market across the oil barrel, including crude, fuel oil, middle distillates and naphtha.
The job encompasses sourcing and assessing values for each product, ensuring the timely and accurate production of their forward curves as well as leading and directing the coverage of daily trade activity in the swaps market. Coverage includes flagging milestone moments for each product group with quick, spot articles, as well as longer pieces analyzing trends and price directions.
The head is also required to maintain continuous vigilance on the sanctity of the data, ensuring its is always accurate and complete. Job responsibilities go beyond the editorial scope of the position, and also cover dealing with technical issues relating to the day-to-day production of the curves.
The job also includes responsibilities for product development, that is, to further enhance Reuters' oil swap product by expanding its scope of coverage, from increasing the product range to extending its geographical barriers.
He/she is also required to work closely with, virtually embedding himself/herself into, Reuters' Energy desk, including doing joint stories that will provide in-depth insights into the activities of the paper markets and relating them to the physical markets; providing customers with a complete and holistic view of the entire market.

Skills

Required Skills :

-At least three years relevant experience in price reporting and/or price assessment, preferably in the oil/energy sector.
-Accomplished financial journalism with a track record of high quality reporting and writing.
-Ability to mine data for stories.
-Meticulous eye for detail.
-At least a year of management experience. Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
-Knowledge of Excel.
