Purpose of Role

 

To lead business area within Large and Complex Loss ensuring people and processes are effectively deployed and technically competent so that claims are settled effectively and efficiently producing maximum benefit for RBS Insurance. To direct and implement large loss claims strategy, and provide technical claims input to all parts of the business.

Key Accountabilities

·                Lead and motivate the business area, creating an environment that supports a high performance culture and accountability for the development of the team and achievement of business objectives.  

·                Ensure consistent application of claims handling processes within business area

·                Continually review the performance of business area against agreed performance measures seek to indentify and implement improvements

·                Focus on costs, process improvements and/or efficiency to contribute to the profitability of RBS Insurance

·                Lead or contribute to claims projects and initiatives and deliver against planned objective/timescales

·                Act as central technical claim referral point for business area and other parts of RBS Insurance, responsible for the shaping building a centre of excellence which delivers the highest quality of claims handling.

·                Be the key interface for RBS I in wider market participate as necessary at all claims market forums

·                Manage and motivate business area and reinforce the culture and core values of RBS insurance through appropriate behaviours and actions

·                Be key business interface with Reinsurers.

·                Lead the development of technical/large loss claims strategy and claims handling initiatives for RBS Insurance large loss units, liaising with the business as necessary.

·                Represent the technical claims function on appropriate internal forums with other internal business units to ensure a joined up approach to technical issues, and facilitate communication of technical developments.

·                Identify, own and manage the risks involved in running our business appropriate to the role, in line with the RBS Insurance risk framework
