vtrIT has a long-term position available in NYC for a Technical Director with a strong technical/game development background.
Position Description:
The Technical Director is responsible for the entire Studio Programming department in close relationship with the Studio Manager, Producers and Worldwide Technical Director. The Technical Director ensures that projects are delivered on time while targeting the best experience and quality.
As part of an already established team (i.e. Game Designers, Game Developers, Graphic Designers, Producer), the mission of the
Technical Director will be to drive and participate in the development of all of Our Client's 3D and 2D projects on multiple platforms (iOS/Android/Web).
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Technical Director:
- Is responsible for all technical architecture and process choices.
- Supervises and participates in all projects from staffing, technology/tools choices, risk evaluation, and dependencies with other projects to ensure that the best quality is achieved.
- Recommends solutions, and approves plans and road maps.
- Works in relation with other Worldwide Studio Technical Directors to improve the Company programming standards and engines.
- Manage the Programmers team.
- Manage employees' performance evaluations, code reviews and disciplinary follow-ups.
- Actively participates in recruitment (CV and portfolio sorting, test corrections. interviews).
- Is an expert in design, programming, debugging and optimization.
- Possesses exceptional analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Programs all of the different game modules (i.e. Artificial Intelligence, sound libraries, display).
- Programs the necessary tools for other teams.
- Works closely with the Video Game Designers, as well as the Graphics teams, to set the various restrictions in the game(s) and implement each element.

Requirements:
Required Skills for this Technical Director position include the following:
- Must have a University degree in Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science
- 6+ years of Programming experience
- 4+ years of experience in the Video Game Industry
- C++ skill and experience
- Skill and experience with iPhone, PS3, XBOX, PSP, DS and/or Online Gaming
- Advanced knowledge of 3D Programming (i.e. OpenGL or DirectX)
- Must be an organized, independent leader
- Must possess knowledge of the technical Pipeline as well as all of the processes needed to make a game
