Position Summary

The Technical Manager is responsible for plant engineering design, thermal performance, capital projects, operational and maintenance consulting support.

 

Supervisory Relations

This position reports directly to the Channelview Cogeneration Facility Manager.

 

Essential Functions

Operations, Maintenance and Performance:

 

·        Provide technical expertise and guidance in the resolution/prevention of equipment problems.

·        Works with Maintenance and Operations personnel to evaluate and resolve equipment issues.

·        Monitors and makes recommendations to improve the thermal efficiency of individual equipment, systems and the overall facility.

·        Direct the activities of contractors to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications and schedules. 

·        Responsible for troubleshooting plant issues, using technical knowledge in recommending course of action; aptitude for determining causes of failure.

·        Identify, evaluate and provide solutions to complex technical problems in a timely manner.

·        Performs other duties and administrative tasks as assigned by the Facility Manager.

 

Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise

·        A technical knowledge of Power Plant Operations and Maintenance, performance calculations and practices.

·        Strong computer skills to include spreadsheets, databases, word- processing and project software.

·        A professional license in an appropriate discipline from a recognized licensing board or specialized courses in relevant general engineering or appropriate engineering discipline.

 

·        Progressive work experience in electrical power generation or related fields, 10 years minimum.

·        Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate complex issues to management and peers clearly, concisely and accurately.

·       This position requires background knowledge of team-based, process oriented and customer focused business techniques is essential.

·        Leadership ability plus strong written and oral communications and problem solving skills to effectively convey concepts, ideas, and directives.

Education / Experience

·         Bachelor of Science Degree in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

·         Ten (10) years work experience in the power/energy industry with at least two (2) years in a supervisory/management position

·         Working knowledge of all MS Office products and other industry related software

 

Additional Job Requirements

·         Valid Texas Drivers License is required

·         Solid organizational and time management skills

·         Ability to do walking, reaching, climbing, and stooping and lifting (up to 75 pounds).
