The role: Technical Program Manager/Program Manager, Cloud Computing Resource Management
As a program manager for cloud computing resource management at Google, you will be central to the advancement of Google's mission. On a daily basis you will be responsible for coordinating across all of Google's Engineering teams to solve some of the most challenging and novel problems in cloud computing. You will work directly with Google's supply chain, data center infrastructure, networking, and software engineering teams to design and deliver the future state of computing resource management within Google.
Your charter will include the automation of compute resource allocation to all software engineering initiatives at Google, the balancing of resource distribution against supply chain, data center infrastructure, network, shared service, and budgetary constraints, and the implementation of tools and policies to optimize resource management across the entire engineering stack at Google. You will seek to redefine the definition of an "on-demand" computing environment at scales the world has not yet seen.
Beyond solid program delivery and technical skills, you should be a professional with experience in software product development, quantitative analytics, and/or supply chain management. You should be a top performer with a rare ability to synthesize strategic solutions to interdependent and broad problems. You should be someone who thrives in a very fast-paced and demanding environment. This role requires an ability to think critically, iterate quickly, provide exceptional thought leadership, and to partner across a wide variety of functions at Google to drive change across Google's Engineering division. You will have a strong internal drive, a tenacious spirit, a collaborative method of working, and deep experience in solving hard problems as simply as possible. In addition, the program manager should be focused at all times on delivering premium service to our internal customers.
Responsibilities:
- Support operations and analytic projects related to the allocation and budgeting of internal computing resources.
- Support subsequent operations and analytic projects related to billing, service fulfillment, internal chargeback and price modeling, supply chain management, and capacity planning needs for compute resources.
- Play a key role in the advancement of strategy, policy, and supporting tools for operations; provide hands-on scripting/tool development as necessary.
- Work with partner teams to launch and deliver projects related to data architecture and process re-design around demand and supply-side compute resource management.
- Play a lead user" role in influencing the design and delivery of related products and data architectures to optimize internal compute resource management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline (In lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience)
- Experience in managing highly-complex, technically-challenging projects, with solid engineering, scripting, and data analysis skills; self-sufficient data analyst and technologist.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA and CS degrees.
- 6 years relevant work experience, 3 years industry experience

- Exceptional skills influencing, teaming, and delivering solutions in a highly complex, always changing, and nebulous environment.
