DuPont Fluorochemicals is a highly profitable business in DuPont. This role is a technical service role to support the business, primarily for the US although some interaction with the other regions of the world may occasionally occur. Support is needed not just for the existing commercial products, but also for new next generation products that have been or will be launched by the business. The purpose of the role is (a) provide technical support to support and grow the existing business by working with customers, and (b) assist in applications development, working closely with the business, marketing, sales and RD personnel. The Technical Service Consultant is responsible for providing customer support for existing and new commercial products. The individual will interact directly with customers and develop a good working relationship with them, especially at the technical level. Internally, the activities are in close collaboration with the sales, marketing, and (in some cases) RD personnel. Occasionally, collection and analysis of data is required. For this, analytical lab facilities are available at Chestnut Run Plaza in Wilmington. Responsibilities can involve, but are not limited to, the following. (1) Collecting end-use performance data, either from customers, or from internally conducted tests (2) Collecting analytical information to address quality concerns or issues (3) Representing DuPont in external Standards Committees or Industry Committees that involve the use and specifications of our products (4) Answering customer complaints, and assisting customers with troubleshooting (5) Assisting RD personnel in the development of next generation products based on a knowledge of customer needs (6) Product stewardship and first order process- related activities for our products (7) Developing and/or maintaining technical bulletins an technical literature as needed by customers
