Apex Systems is searching for a qualified professional to fulfill the role of Technical Writer for our client in Dallas, TX. This is a 6 month contract opportunity with a possibility for extension or perm hire.

Technical Writer
1. Plans, designs and authors process documentation, instructional materials, user manuals, PowerPoint slides, quick reference guides, and related materials.
2. Works with Development, Quality Assurance and Technical Support to produce a wide variety of technical publications for use by both the IT and business community.
3. Responsible for creation and maintenance of IT documentation (Service Management, Project Management and Compliance)
4. Converts rough draft process documentation into swim-lane diagrams and other formal process flow diagrams.
5. Writes formal process narratives to support process flow documentation based on verbal description, notes, and other supporting documentation.
6. Maintains internal documentation library, provides and/or coordinates special documentation services as required, and oversight of special projects.
7. Researches information such as drawings, design reports, equipment and test specification to fill any gaps.
8. Interviews subject matter experts and technical staff to collect information, prepare written text, and coordinate layout and material organization.
9. Prepares or assists in the preparation of company newsletters or other information sheets as required.
10. May assist in preparing presentation materials for meetings; prepare and distribute minutes.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills Experience:
· Requires knowledge of similar product lines or ASP offerings and document structure.
· Five years of direct work experience authoring training materials, user guides, or process flow documentation for distribution within a corporate setting. 5+ years' experience with MS Office and Visio.
· 3+ years of experience using standard technical writing tools, including and in depth Microsoft Visio.
· 3+ years of experience with collaboration tools, such as wikis, blogs, and Microsoft SharePoint.
· Must be able to follow general guidelines or precedent to accomplish tasks and solve routine problems, referring more complex matters to supervisor, and provide advice or analysis that may effectively influence the outcome of resource allocations or disposition.
