The Financing Group Technology team is responsible for the design, development and support of front office applications used by the Equities, Fixed Income and Investment Banking Divisions for the management of Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) and other (primarily new issue) equity and debt offerings.  The applications provide support for all parts of the business deal flow from product creation, origination, through to book building, allocations, pricing, and trade booking.

Financing Group Technology is a global team with a presence in New York, London and Bangalore and is responsible for identifying global and regional user requirements and delivering solutions through all aspects of the software development life cycle. 

The team is closely aligned to the Financing Group business unit involving considerable interaction with front-office traders, sales professionals, compliance, controllers and middle-office operations staff. The nature of the global business lends itself to high-profile transactions and visibility within the organisation. 

RESPONSIBILIITES

Financing Group Technology are looking for an individual to join the team and will be responsible for global initiatives aimed at improving the technical and functional architecture of our core applications as well as implementing strategic solutions to improve efficiency’s across the group. 

The candidate will own the full software development lifecycle on a range of projects including post-delivery support. The role will require close collaboration with the global team to ensure projects are effectively coordinated and managed alongside other ongoing initiatives.

As a strong hands-on senior Java developer with knowledge and experience of prevailing standards, design patterns, development frameworks and technologies, the candidate will be expected to provide technical guidance leadership to junior team members globally and regionally.

SKILL / EXPERIENCE

MANDATORY

• 5+ years relevant technical experience including as a senior developer having a successful track-record of delivering applications to support various businesses and exposure to the full software development lifecycle
• Solid server-side Java and web-based development skills and experience. Recent hands-on experience of build tools deployment environments awareness of relevant open-source projects. The candidate is expected to disseminate this knowledge within the team
• Good working knowledge of SQL, Unix
• Object-oriented analysis and design skills. Ability to use these methods in understanding business requirements and build sound solutions
• Good inter-personal, communication and business-facing skills
• Ability to work under pressure in time-critical situations using sound judgement professionalism
• Ability to integrate into and work well within a global team
• Ability to interact with users and other technology groups to understand current and future requirements
• The candidate should exhibit a flexible attitude and dynamic approach to supporting applications/users as well as undertaking development projects.

PREFERRED

• 2+ years relevant Banking industry experience
• Working within a front-office environment, having interacted directly with Traders would be a distinct advantage
• Practical experience of Spring, Hibernate, ExtJS, Ajax, Perl, Jboss/Tomcat, test-driven development would be useful
• Knowledge of equity or debt new issue underwriting businesses would be an advantage
