Technology Infrastructure – Voice Engineer recruitment
Network, Voice and Multimedia Engineering (NVM) is a global organisation that is part of the Technology Infrastructure Division. It is based in five locations around the world with the EMEA function currently staffed with 14 members in London. The team develops voice solutions for the telephony environment including IP phones, voicemail, voice recording and voice for large scale trading floors. Network solutions are developed for hosting critical market data, exchange connectivity and e-commerce services, the design of the physical network supporting the London campus and interconnectivity to regional offices across Europe and the Middle East. Multimedia solutions include a range of video conferencing experiences, digital video signage and video distribution. The team ensures knowledge, best practises and expertise are shared between regions promoting teamwork and collaboration.
NVM Engineering is seeking an experienced voice engineer with excellent technical, analytical and communication skills.
RESPONSIBILIITES
The engineer’s responsibilities include:
- Developing new solutions for internal clients
- Working with internal clients to understand their requirements
- Translating client requirements into technology solutions
- Communicating the important technical and commercial attributes of solutions to clients in ways the client can understand
- Introduction, communication and development of strategic voice technologies to provide additional scalability and functionality.
- Take an active role in the product lifecycle; new technology introduction through to demise
- Owning the delivery of a variety of often concurrent projects in varying scale from small to very large
- Provide subject matter expertise when collaborating on cross platform projects with teams responsible for Network, Video, Desktop, Compliance and Legal teams.
- Provide technical escalation for complex problems
- Working with product vendors and telecoms service providers with regards to all of the above
SKILL / EXPERIENCE
The skills required to be successful in this role:
Ø Extensive technical experience in engineering and implementing voice technologies within a large Enterprise, preferably some time within Financial Sector.
Ø Intimate knowledge of Cisco Unified Call Manager – large scale multi-cluster deployments
Ø Extensive experience of call routing architectures and voice carrier integration
Ø Understanding of related voice products and services:
oVoicemail – preferably Cisco Unity
oVoice recording – preferably Cybertech
oCisco Unified Contact Center
Ø In-depth knowledge of IP voice signalling, transport protocols and codecs (e.g. SIP, H.323, SCCP, RTP, G.711, G.729).
Ø Understanding of network requirements for voice – QoS, call admission control, security
Ø Knowledge of TDM voice protocols (QSIG, DPNSS, E1, T1)
Ø Appreciation of neighbouring technologies: Video, Networking, Desktop collaboration, Mobile
Ø Additional technologies of interest: Trader/Dealer voice systems, Computer Telephony Integration
Ø Experience of voice system optimisation and troubleshooting
Ø Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ø Solid communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Ø Solid Project Management experience (large voice deployments and cross-discipline project deliverables)
