Test Lead recruitment

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Equities and Indices Test Manager (UK based), but running a largely autonomous team based in New York. The candidate will work closely with the NYC technical lead and development team, ETF and Dividends product leads, and their operational teams.

As a result, the successful applicant will take full end-to-end lifecycle responsibility for Quality Assurance and Testing activities in:

-supporting delivery of various new service provisions within Markit;

-supporting delivery of enhancements to existing services;

-BAU and maintenance support work.

Including:

-Func Test Execution – taking the lead in execution of functional testing, including upward management reporting and stakeholder liaison.

-Test Planning – review of specification and creation of test plans, identification of test cases, and creation of test scripts and packs. Project estimation.

-Tech Test Execution – taking the lead in the execution of non-functional test activity, particularly performance testing using industry standard tools.

-Managing expectation of senior stakeholders with respect to Progress, Coverage and Quality of test activity

-Taking responsibility for coaching and development of more junior staff.

Adding to and championing best practice methodology with respect to testing and Quality Assurance within Markit.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience of project lifecycle and theory of Testing must be shown.

• Experience of working in a global business, with global development and infrastructure teams, is important for this role to be successful, and must be shown.

• Experience of both functional and non-functional test definition/build/execution/delivery must be shown.

• Experience working in the financial sector would be an advantage.

• Experience in BA / requirements gathering would be a clear advantage.

• A solid degree in a science discipline from a reputable institution would be highly advantageous.

• Experience of extensive test management, in managing large teams of analysts, will not be required in order to be successful in application for this role.

• Strong analytical skills required.

• Experience of industry testing tools (QTP, Loadrunner, HP Quality Centre) would be highly advantageous.

• Experience of working closely with Database Technology (specifically SQL Server 2008) would be highly advantageous.

• Experience of working with (testing) XML and large integrated data flows would be highly advantageous. Specifically the testing of MI and other large database/ETL solutions.

• Any previous formal development experience or knowledge of scripting languages would also be advantageous.
