Job Description Job Title: The Technical Accounting Writer role will provide technical accounting support to the NPS Controller's office in the application of U.S. GAAP. Requisition ID: 120031I Job Category: Accounting Manager 7 Primary Location: USA-VA: VIRGINIA-FALLS CHURCH Schedule: Full-time Job Type: Regular Employee Status: Regular Job Posting: 2012-Feb-22 Description Provides technical accounting support for significant transactions and documents position in white paper Reviews the application of revenue recognition guidance for new and existing contracts and documents the position in white paper Drafts accounting policies for new accounting pronouncements and ensure that existing policies reflect current accounting guidance Assists in the education of business unit personnel in the application of U.S. GAAP, including the preparation of training materials Assists in preparation of SEC filings as well as the preparation of financial information Supports due diligence process for potential acquisitions Implements process improvements and documents SOX procedures and controls Qualifications Basic Qualifications Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Master's degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field preferred Graduate coursework preferred Twelve or more years of accounting experience Nine or more years of supervisory or management experience included Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting software Other Qualifications Strong personal computer and business solutions software skills Strong interpersonal skills for interacting accountants, clients, and upper management Strong communication skills for communicating with support personnel and management Strong analytical and problem solving skills Strong presentation skills for educating internal clients on accounting principles Strong planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work Leadership skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Big Four national office or regional office experience providing U.S. GAAP technical accounting support preferred CPA required Experience working with accounting research software Experience researching and resolving complex technical accounting issues for both U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting Experience working with concepts, practices, and procedures in areas of responsibility Experience working with management implications of various forms of financial data Broad and deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP Knowledge of international financial reporting standards a plus Remote Work Authorized: No Relocation Assistence: Not Available Clearance Level: None
