Directs the activities of the Tool Room personnel for designated shift including manpower assignments, identifying overtime requirements and bringing them to the Tool Room Supervisor or Plant Manager’s attention, issuing disciplinary action if required. Assist the Tool Room Supervisor or Plant Manager in completing annual performance appraisals. Promotes a positive labor relations climate in the Tool Room. Insures Tool Room productivity targets are achieved, including monitoring actual performance against target and initiates countermeasures to correct any negative variances. Inputs daily progress. Promotes continuous improvement activities. Completes training requirements for Tool Room personnel. Maintains safe working environment including completion of accident investigation reports, utilization of personal protective equipment, and compliance with safety rules and procedures. Reviews quality checks and provides interpretation to quality standards when required. Is familiar with and insures department complies with TS16949 standards. Assists the Tool Room Supervisor or Plant Manager in the identification of training requirements for Tool Room personnel.
Must have Journeyman Tool and Die Certification along with 2 years experience in a leadership role. Must be able to repair any die in or out of the press without supervision. Must be able to work to a high standard of quality on all tasks. Must be able to work with helpers and machinists as required. Must have the ability to trouble shoot any die repair situations that arise during preventive maintenance on the bench. Should be able to meet timeline required for the completion of all projects given to them. Must comply with all shop and tool room guidelines. Must portray good Safety, Quality, Housekeeping, Attendance habits, and be able to perform in a team-oriented environment.
