Position Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance but will consider other specializations if work experience is accompanied with relevant experience in trade finance
- Experience in vetting and negotiation of trade documents
- Knowledge and application of Letters of Credits, Bank Guarantees and Political Risk Insurance Covers
- Knowledge and experience in the application of International Trade Guidelines (UCP 600, UDRG, Incoterms, ISBP)
- Knowledge of SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) protocols is an advantage
- Experience in the Energy industry is an advantage
Job Responsibilities
- The Trade Finance Advisor is responsible for providing advice and trade documentation support to the business with regards to security that Shell Trading receives and/or issues in conjunction with its trading activities
- Ensure that all security received is in a form and substance that is acceptable to Shell Trading providing an unassailable claim
- Perform thorough review of standby Letter of Credits(L/C), documentary L/C, parent company guarantees and letters of indemnity ensuring details comply with standard format, sales contracts and UCP600
- Advice trading operators and customers on L/C amendments required
- Prepare documentations for negotiation under documentary L/C and documentary collections
- Liaise with banks on final negotiations of L/C
- Maintained and cleared customers’ L/C issuing banks according to list of approved issuing banks and respective bank limits
- Processed payment instructions for debit/credit advices from banks
