Trading Applications Support
A software support professional is required for my client a leading Inter Dealer Broker. This is a hands-on support role which involves working closely with the business and other technology teams in order to support and implement changes to the existing core trade processing applications. The Back office technology has two sub teams – Integration and Messaging, Third PartyApp Support and Small Apps Development. This position is in the Third Party APP Support and Small Apps Team, which focuses on delivering upgrades and support for third party products and maintain small applications built in house for back office functions.
Overall Purpose and context of the position
The prime purpose of this position is to support the back office application suite, Business Object Reports, MS Access databases and apply upgrades to third party software.
The work is exceptionally varied and will range from small fixes and enhancements to implementing new products, new interfaces and performing technology upgrades. The work will involve shift patterns, overnight and weekend support activities.
Priorities and Objective
The objectives of the role are:
- Build and trouble shoot Unix Scripts.
- Support and trouble shoot complex SQL queries and stored procedures
- To maintain and support Business Object reports.
- To analyse, design, build and implementation MS Access/VBA solutions.
- To provide input into and drive the ongoing technological improvement.
- To liaise with other development teams as necessary to implement cross-team projects.
- Provide technical support to other team members and to production support teams as necessary

Desirable (Experience in any or all of these will be favourable)
- Database design and modelling in at least one major RDBMS (e.g. Sybase)
- Knowledge of any of the following business areas: Fixed Income, Money Markets and Derivatives
- Reconciliation systems: Intellimatch
- Working knowledge of any of the following technologies:XML / XSL / XSLT
- SDLC
