As the Training Competency Specialist you will be responsible for:

-          The creation, maintenance and embedding of a new Training Competency framework and regulatory compliance for the UK platform.

-          You will be responsible for the creation of functional and general competencies and the training and monitoring processes that support their uptake across the business. 

-          This position will report to Head of Compliance with a dotted line to the HR Manager (Operations).  This person will work closely with the Compliance Leader (Retail), the broader UK HR and Compliance teams, the General Counsel and other critical stakeholders across all functions.

-          You will be  is accountable for:

o    Competency Framework and Content To ensure that functional competencies are created, and are fit for purpose, addressing current and future regulatory requirements. Ensure that the businesses maintain an appropriate level of compliance with prevailing policies.

o    Training and Personal Development Logs To ensure that the organisation is fit for purpose as it relates to the training and development of its key functions, and that is has systems to support this. That existing systems and processes are adapted or changed and that the HR function and business managers are educated in their obligations.

o    Role Profiles/Job Descriptions To support the HR team with a plan for documenting all role profiles and associated competencies across the organisation. Create a system for maintaining and updating organisational charts and these role profiles going forward in conjunction with the broader GE Capital job description policy.

o    Induction Create and maintain employee induction content and delivery in accordance with good practice, using existing and new material as required.

o    Monitoring: Ensure that an appropriate level of compliance monitoring is undertaken in respect of the training and competence. Arrange and undertake risk based reviews and help the business to devise and close out on corrective action plans. Identify policy breaches and provide appropriate reporting to management.

o    Business and project management meetings: Represent the compliance function at HR meetings when required. Ensure compliance concerns are flagged to the business and all actions are followed through to completion.

o    Major regulatory projects: Participation in all major regulatory projects that have a training and competence impact, ensuring that changes are appropriately embedded in the business. Ensure effective implementation of all new compliance policies.

o    Training: Support an appropriate regime for TCF training and ongoing Training Competency regime for all staff; deliver ad hoc compliance training on new initiatives as and when required.

As the Training Competency Specialist your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

•   Proven experience in a UK regulated consumer lending or financial services environment

•   Proven experience in a UK banking institution is desirable

•   Excellent understanding of UK regulatory requirements particularly as it relates to Training Competency requirements.

•   Experiencing implementing a Training Competency framework and associated competency models in multiple functions.

•   The suitable candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the need to balance commercial and regulatory risk

•   The role holder will have a proven track record in working within a project team.

•   Strong evidence of working with multi-stakeholder teams with internal and external resources.

•   Established credibility and experience interfacing with senior leadership

•   Ability to work under tight deadlines and to prioritize under pressure
