Transaction Reporting Business Analyst recruitment

The role is within the Transaction Reporting project team, aligned to the Regulatory Reporting team in EMEA COO within Operations, working for the EMEA Head of Operations. The project was set up to review all aspects of transaction reporting for products to the FSA. Given the high profile nature of the project the incumbent will be able to work proactively across multiple business streams and functions e.g. Operations, IT, Compliance.
Whilst the primary objective of the project is to identify current state processes and subsequent gaps, there will be a requirement to make process improvements at short notice where necessary. It is essential that FSA Transaction Reporting rules are fully understood by the analyst for this role to enable interpretation and conversion into a fully compliant process.
Core tasks will involve:
- Analysis of “as is” process and mapping of rules to highlight gaps or areas for improvement.
- Creating/Updating documentation to ensure consistency and relevance.
- Providing regular progress updates to the project manager.
- Softer skills to fit into a team environment.
- Interacting effectively with clients in the day-to-day provision of high quality data required by the business.
- Understand and anticipate client needs and responding effectively to translate requirements into solutions.
- Interface comfortably with clients and partners as required and develop good working relationships.
- Contribute to Show the general strategy and direction of our business group within the bank.
- Work collaboratively, regardless of team, geographical or functional boundaries to achieve shared goals.
Responsibilities to be achieved, but not limited to:
- Plan, organise and prioritise work effectively to meet deadlines. Understand interdependencies between own work and other colleagues, and demonstrate ability to co-ordinate effectively to achieve business goals and deadlines.
- Focus on challenging the status quo constructively when existing methods appear outmoded and ineffective, and use knowledge and experience to recommend innovative and creative improvements, to achieve significant gains in processes and services.

- Identify key issues related to and root causes of process issues, and use both logical analysis and conceptual thinking to resolve them.

- Assimilate information quickly to get to the heart of an issue, recognising how the issue developed, and what steps to take to prevent this from re-occurring.
- Recognise trends and patterns in data and approach. Execute effective initial analyses, communicating all findings and issues upwards as appropriate.
- Work within the structure established to optimise effectiveness, and contribute to ongoing development – knowing when to communicate the additional resources.
- Understand clearly why managing risk is critical to the banks’ success - identify risks which occur in own workloads and when they should be referred upwards.
Requirements:
- Previous extensive investment banking experience within Transaction Reporting with a thorough understanding of Risk and Control methodology is mandatory.
- Understanding of TRUP/MIFID rules is preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate strong analytical thinking, CTB and process focus.
- Track record in analysing complex problems with the ability to distil these into simple issues, communicate these effectively, and propose workable resolutions to the initial problem set.
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of process improvements techniques - Business analysis, Project management, and improvement/ control ability.
