The Implementation Team is responsible for the efficient implementation of client investment structures and the monitoring of transitions executed by specialist third-party transition managers. Towers Watson has had a transition capability for a number of years, however, in 2007, the Implementation Team was set up with the wider remit to focus on all areas of investment manager structure implementation.
The Role
The core of the implementation role focuses on transition project management, which can involve monitoring relatively simple unit level transactions in pooled vehicles through to complex multiple investment manager and asset class transitions.
- Adhere to our WorkExcellence principles to ensure that projects are completed in a manner that adds value to our clients.
- Work with colleagues in the Implementation Team and the wider Practice in order to provide suitable solutions for client implementation and transition projects. This includes being involved in drafting new business scope letters and project frameworks, assisting with managing transitions, and co-ordinating activity, ensuring schedules are adhered to and deadlines are met.
- Take responsibility for each project to ensure that component parts are delivered efficiently.
- Learn about the wider investment consulting business
- Demonstrate risk-management excellence and ensure appropriate procedures are adhered to.
- Support the investment consulting teams managing all parties involved in a transition project, and dealing with clients to keep them informed on progress and ensure they also carry out their role.
- Develop the skills necessary to liaise directly with consultant client teams and clients, managing expectations appropriately as well as providing clear reports on sometimes complex activities
The Requirements
- Previous experience in a transition role is not required
- University degree; IAQ preferable but not essential
- Project management skills
- Problem solving skills and high level of numeracy
- Effective oral and written communication skills to ensure that information and knowledge is shared and cascaded appropriately
- Team-player with the ability to fit seamlessly into the wider practice of associates all focussed on delivering work of exceptional quality
- Good IT skills (good knowledge of the MS Office package)
- Ability to work on own initiative when required as well as in a team
- To be comfortable and have the confidence to liaise with third-party organisations and with all levels of staff within the practice
- A results orientated individual who has a logical and analytical method of working
- Desire to work in the investment industry and to study towards an IMC and/or CFA qualification
