Transport Operations Manager Job in Rugby, Midlands UK
An excellent opportunity has arisen at Norbert Dentressangle Logistics UK for A Transport Operations Manager to join the teams across Rugby and Coventry. The purpose of the role is to lead the Coventry Rugby based transport operation in an engaging, cost effective and efficient manner in order to meet business requirements and the needs of our customers.
Main accountabilities to include but not be limited to:
Lead all Coventry Rugby based transport related operational activities (Radial and Bulk) ensuring that customer service levels are achieved and continuously improved.
Maximise backhaul opportunities on the bulk distribution fleet
Monitor and control distribution costs against set budgets, taking remedial action where projected spend would exceed the authorised limit / budgets.
Must be able to implement cost saving initiatives in line with both customer and in-house CIP requirements
Lead the distribution business performance against set indicators to ensure the effectiveness of the distribution operation in exceeding both internal and external customer requirements.
Take full responsibility for distribution compliance at Tyrefort to Company Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) standards and ensure that these are continuously improved.
Assume full O-Licence responsibility for the site.
Maintain overall driver manning levels which efficiently match the budgeted traffic movements for the depot, recruiting and training staff to meet any shortfall
Act as a line manager to the reports detailed above, taking responsibility for their personal development and any grievance/disciplinary issues
Maintain the depot's overall traffic schedule with up-to-date information ensuring that there are adequate traffic provisions for the depot to meet its business objectives
Ensuring compliance with all Legal and Health and Safety aspects of site operations
Responsible for managing absence in line with the company's absence management policy up to stage four of the process and disciplinary issues up to dismissal
To undertake recruitment and selection of management and staff team and ensure the effective induction of these colleagues to the business
The ideal candidate will have:
Minimum 3 years operational management experience in a complex logistics, distribution manufacturing environment
Experience of improving employee engagement
Change management experience with a focus on business improvement
Understanding of key operational cost drivers and PL or cost centre management
Experience of managing conflicting priorities in a fast moving
Confidence in utilising Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Distribution experience
International CPC (Ideally)
