As a Transportation Manager in Training, you will learn to supervise unionized work crews and to manage the safe on-time transportation operations at a major terminal in our system. Upon completion of the 12-month training program, you will be assigned to a work location where you will lead employees in transportation plan executions to ensure that all business objectives are met. We need critical thinkers with strong analytical and communication skills who have the confidence to lead a diverse crew of people. This is an exceptional first-line field management opportunity with significant growth potential. Working in Operations is not a typical 8-to-5, Monday-through-Friday job and it requires someone able to handle a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment. This opportunity will require long hours in all weather conditions and relocation several times throughout your career. Salary Information: Starting Salary: $53,000 - $62,000* At 6 Months: $3,500 increase At Placement: $65,000 - $70,000* *Based on skills, experience and geographical location Accountabilities: Overseeing employees and transportation operations Running daily conference calls with executives and other management Running data reports on yard operations Observing transportation crews in the field for safety and operational compliance Ordering necessary supplies and equipment Maintaining constant communication with locomotive dispatchers to keep track of incoming trains Ensuring that crews are available to work on trains and depart with them as necessary Completing incident reports Conducting regular employee performance evaluations
