Transportation Specialist (B) Job in Chandler 85226, Arizona US

Job Summary:  Reports to the Operations Manager or designated manager. The Transportation Assistant assists in the coordination of the movement of fleet lease, factory and consignment vehicles to and from the auction in accordance with corporate and CarsArrive guidelines and to ensure maximum production volume in the most profitable way possible. Perform all duties assigned by the Operations Manager or designated manager.  Must know, practice and ensure that company policies and procedures and state or federal laws are followed at all times by persons under their jurisdiction.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Act as a point of contact for transportation within the local auction and ensure customers receive prompt, efficient and courteous attention.2. Must be computer literate and have full command of MS Office products. Will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Grand Central at the site.3. Specialist is expected to follow the CarsArrive Manual of ADESA Processes to attain department goals.4. Coordinate with auction drivers to make sure vehicles are picked up in a timely and efficient manner.

5. Properly dispatch loads for correct arrival time and location.

6. Follow up with dealerships/customers to make sure the load arrived safely and on time.

7. Practice and promote teamwork at all times.  Set a good personal example of attitude and performance. Assists with proper staffing in connection with the volume of pickup and delivery orders.8. Assist the CarsArrive team with the coordination of vehicles to the required destination.9. Aid the CarsArrive team with the coordination of transportation activities between auction, customer, office and/or drivers to ensure the department can function in the most efficient, productive and profitable manner.10. Facilitate the Department of Transportation items for the local auction.11. Work with the CarsArrive Team and the corporate transportation department to reduce network costs and improve service.12. Ensure proper follow-through on all directives, bulletins, schedules and accounting from the CarsArrive team and corporate transportation department. Maintain a good flow of communication with CarsArrive team and all other related personnel.13. Report area conditions that may threaten employee or customer safety.  Respond to and follow proper procedures on employee and customer accidents, injuries, and loss or damage to any property.  Report all incidents to the Operations Manager or designated manager.  14. Inform the Operations Manager or designated manager and Facilities of all breakdowns and maintenance immediately.  Ensure good routine preventive maintenance.

Educational Requirements and Qualifications:  High School Diploma or GED required with one (1) to two (2) years experience in the transportation industry preferred but not required.  Must be qualified to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements: The physical activity requirements of the position are from Light to Medium Physical Work.  Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision comparable to definitions for Clerical, Administrative, Machine Operators (including inspection) positions. 

Physical Working Condition: This position is subject to both inside and outside environmental working conditions, including temperature changes, outside weather conditions, slightly elevated ambient noise levels, minor potential physical hazards, such as electrical, mechanical equipment and cleaning and pesticide chemicals; and minor atmospheric conditions affecting skin or respiratory systems, such as fumes, odors and dusts associated with internal and external service station/convenience food and petroleum dispensing operations.
