Amount of Travel Required: No travel required

Work Schedule: M-F, 8:00 a.m. until work is completed, and some

Saturdays

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the clerical and administrative support aspects of the Transportation Department. Key duties include driver pay administration, freight quotes, trip books, driver expense reimbursement, data entry for drivers logs, maintenance and qualification files into Keller Program and other duties as assigned by the Transportation Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s)

·         Assist Transportation Manager in all clerical and administrative support aspects of transportation department operation and any duties assigned and necessary to support the Transportation Department, the broader Branch/Division/Company success and the needs of our customers.

·         Assist Transportation Manager in critical communication required during truck or driver emergencies (customer calls, division manager, emergency personnel, other departments, etc).

·         Calculate and submit driver pay information to Transportation Manager for approval.

·         Receive and process freight quotes, UPS and LTL shipments.

·         With Transportation Manager, schedule trips and get trip books ready for use in Warehouse.

·         With Transportation Manager, place customer orders and inter-company transfers in trip books and ready for use in Warehouse.

·         Receive and record daily driver call-ins and inform Transportation Manager of status.

·         With Transportation Manager, manage process for driver cash invoices, driver travel expenses, driver log sheets, vehicle inspection reports and driver trip books.

·         Coordinate driver back-haul process and keep Warehouse informed of status.

·         Specific to the Texarkana Division (BWT), total up weights of returning intercompany trips and charge transfer fees to each division.

·         With Transportation Manager, enter truck and trailer maintenance records into Keller program.

·         Enter Driver Logs and Driver Qualification Files into Keller program.

·         Balance Transportation Department Petty Cash on weekly basis and complete Petty Cash Summary and Petty Cash Reconciliation forms.

·         Assist in Order Calls when overflow occurs.

·         Manage process for locating items shorted, working with location credit department and warehouse inventory control.

SKILLS ABILITIES

Education : High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience : One to two years related experience

Computer Skills:  Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)and AS400. Typing speed in excess of 35 wpm and accuracy.
