Job Purpose:

The jobholder will take on prime responsibility for assessing all current / emerging risks concerning the local business and play a key role in determining the structure and composition of the annual monitoring program as well as ensuring timely execution of the program.

This is achieved primarily through the following:

• Managing a team of Compliance Officers in the completion of the annual compliance monitoring program for relevant business lines

• Leading thematic and monitoring reviews of business activities

• Management and training to junior members of the team

• Acting as a liaison between the business and local regulatory authority where necessary

• Representing BNY Mellon at relevant industry events/ forums.

• Participation in or lead business meetings to include senior management committees where necessary and represent BNY Mellon externally as required

In addition the role holder should be prepared to assist as required in the following activities:

• pro-actively represent Compliance in all business change activity and projects, ensuring that they are assessed from a regulatory perspective

• working with local business management to ensure compliance with general compliance matters, advise on upstream risk and act as a liaison between those areas and local regulatory authority

• oversight of assessment, communication and implementation of regulatory change to include responses to industry papers.

The role may require input across other BNY Mellon operations where business is outsourced. Therefore, the jobholder should be prepared to travel.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all compliance monitoring is completed in accordance with the annual monitoring program on time and to a high standard

• Ensure that all findings are accurately recorded on GCMS and that proactive actions are taken to ensure satisfactory resolution of issues raised

• Ensure that mechanisms are in place to chase all outstanding and overdue issues on GCMS

• Represent Compliance at the regular board and committee meetings at local and EMEA level as required

• Represent Compliance on external committees, working groups, and trade body seminars if required to do so

• As required, have responsibility for the tracking and oversight by Compliance of all incident reports raised to Compliance and impacting the local business until satisfactory resolution if achieved

• Drive the Compliance agenda with senior management, client relationship managers, service delivery managers and external clients.

• Where required to do so, act as a day to day contact with the local regulatory authority and undertake both oral and written communications where necessary in conjunction with line management. This involves contributing to and influencing business around the content of regulatory submissions to ensure appropriate disclosures and accuracy.

• Represent Compliance at client meetings and other external fora

• Manage and assist in the training of staff members through the direction or provision of Compliance training as required.

• Alert management immediately of any significant changes to business risks and internal controls effectiveness.

• Notify management and/or Compliance immediately of any regulatory breach.
