Underwriting Manager recruitment
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Lead personal loans underwriter for SocietyOne consumer applications.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:
- Apply company underwriting criteria
- Understand and adhere to overarching risk appetite within credit fraud risk policy criteria
- Works to review, improve and set credit risk criteria for consumer lending products, including risk versus profitability trade-offs
- Develops comprehensive policies focused on reducing credit risk, and managing strategies to mitigate the organization’s loss exposure
- Evaluation of effectiveness of credit policies overrides
- Provides tactical input on the application system workflow and development of credit risk models
- Monitors portfolios to appraise their credit quality, policy adherence and degree of risk
- Any other risk or compliance activity required by Head of Risk
- Determines procedures for auditing portfolios
- Early collections ( 90 days past due) activity as portfolio is grows matures
- Ensure connections between application characteristics and non-payment.

- Actively participate in SocietyOne’s growth agenda whilst maintaining risk underwriting control
- Self-motivated with ability to work within a small multi-disciplined team
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
- Manage hiring, training and growth as SocietyOne grows through organic growth.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
- Maintain credit quality of accepted loan application within agreed risk appetite criteria
- Achieve operating efficiency targets; [X] 15 loans per day
- Achieve cost budgets on external services; bureau and other external services
- Achieve Compliance targets obligations
- Manage team development as per agree growth objectives
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Educated to degree level in a numerate or commercial discipline
- A successful track record in consumer finance (5 years +) with minimum 2 years direct personal loans underwriting experience
- Up to date knowledge of sector practice and regulatory requirements (AML, Privacy, NCCP and Responsible Lending)
- Cert IV or equivalent Underwriter training
- Ability to think strategically - and to design and deliver process improvement recommendations
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong capabilities to articulate complex analytical information
- Advanced negotiation skills
- Advanced facilitation presentation skills
- Project Management competency
