Unix System Administrator – Tier 1 Investment Bank recruitment
Our client is a leading global financial institution. This is a team of technically strong Unix Administrators responsible for maintaining a Red hat Linux /Solaris platform as well as migrating some of the Solaris servers over to Red Hat
Responsibilities of the role:
- Maintain global OS standard including Solaris (Sparc/x86) and Linux (SUSE / Red Hat) and infrastructure tools
- Design and automate workflow using Shell Scripting to improve IT processes and maintain system consistency
- Vendor management for provisioning and hardware / software support
- Troubleshooting root cause of any server incident, assess any potential impact to the infrastructure
- Delivering system consultation services including performance tuning advice
- Hardware maintenance including firmware management and capacity upgrade
- Apply mass change or security patches to the systems using Shell Script and HPSA
- Cost saving with virtualization technology, e.g. VMware Solaris Containers.
Requirements of the role:
- 5+ Years’ experience in a Linux/Solaris environment
- Red Hat Certification would be beneficial
- Strong Scripting skills in Unix Shell Scripting
- Experience of a Large Enterprise Unix/Linux environment essential
- Banking experience highly beneficial
- Good communication skills
