Upstream Coal Planning & Reporting Senior Analyst recruitment
We have a fantastic opportunity for a confident Senior Analyst with robust accounting skills to join our Upstream Finance Team.
The main responsibilities within this role will include:
- Monthly performance reporting, forecasting for Fuel cost as well as Coal cost variance analysis based on cost driver such as accounting treatment and change on burn/delivery volumes.
- Calculating monthly weighted average coal cost and producing sensitivities on Accounting Treatment, Burn volume and Coal delivery prices.
- Posting adjustments to ensure Coal costing in MI is reconciled with Weighted Average Model.
- Upgrading/improving the Weight Average Coal model to ensure the complexity of Coal costing is better understood to support commercial decision making.
- Producing Balance sheet /Cash flow items related to Coal and extract insights for performances analysis.
- Working with Upstream Finance team to provide them with Coal asset position as part of the monthly Period Reporting.
- Working with Corporate Reporting team and commenting on coal cost movement on PL and Working Capital report on B/S.
- Co-ordinating with Technical Accounting team to apply appropriate accounting treatment to Coal Swap hedging and reporting the impact in accordance with International Accounting Standards.
- Reconciling major balance sheet accounts such as Coal inventory, Coal creditor and Coal burn between SAP and Weighted Average Coal models and making appropriate adjustment.
- Post Year Adjustment and tracking movements to Gross Margin impact.
To succeed in this role you must demonstrate professional qualifications (ACA, ACMA, ACCA) or have equivalent technical or accounting experience gained within a similar discipline. You will be rigorous and diligent in your approach, with the ability to reconcile figures and translate meaning from the data in a fluid and coherent manner. You will have a good working knowledge of SAP and Genesis with the ability to quickly get to grips with other IT systems. With a positive, proactive style, good stakeholder management skills you will look for improvements and take a balanced commercial approach to making decisions. While those with energy market experience are preferred, it is expected you will have a good knowledge of the sector and desire to learn.
