User Experience Designer Kaiser Permanente Oakland, CA The User Experience Designer contributes to the design and development of the user experience, layout, organization and information hierarchy for web applications for the KP workforce. The User Experience Designer must understand both the business and the technical aspects of the Web. They must understand business stakeholders perspectives and the end-users needs, and translate user and stakeholder needs into an effective user interface. This position participates in discovery and research to inform user experience design, is responsible for developing and documenting design in the form of wireframes, navigation models, and site maps (user interface specifications), and collaborates on the delivery of the user experience through development, testing, and deployment. User Research Work with project team and stakeholders to define target audiences and user groups. Analyze metrics, such as web analytics and search logs, to inform design decisions. Contribute to the definition, planning, recruitment/screening, execution, and reporting of research for complex or high visibility projects with senior stakeholders, users, and functional teams for discovery, user research, concept testing, and usability testing. Conduct user research, and quantitative and/or qualitative analysis of test results. Conduct competitive audits and industry research. Develop and refine personas based on user research. Develop design recommendations based on user research findings. User Experience Design / Interaction Design Understand business requirements and target audiences needs, tasks, and goals and translate them into effective information and navigation architectures, taking into account best practices and standards and ensuring room for evolutionary growth. Partner with Business Engagement Manager, Business Analyst, Content Strategy, and Product Management Team during discovery, inventory, analysis, and design to produce the user experience, information architecture, and navigation. Define user experience, including mental models, site maps, wireframes, storyboards, scenarios, task flows, and other visuals which represent the layout, flow and organization of a complex web application targeted to the KP workforce. Create and document detailed content hierarchies and taxonomies to support the information architecture design. Collaboratively produce mock-ups and prototypes for demonstration of concepts to business partners. Contribute to and maintain user experience style guides and guidelines. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: - Three (3) - five (5) years of experience moderating usability tests Web interaction design experience or related experience - Experience designing usability tests, analyzing results forming recommendations based on those results - Experience in computer and/or web programming preferred - Web design experience preferred - Bachelor's degree in a related field, preferably w/ an experimental and/or UI design related bend (e.g., social sciences) - Master's degree preferred - Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint - Proficient using Microsoft Visio for wireframing - Working knowledge of web design coding - Working knowledge of policies, practices systems - Frequent use general knowledge of industry practices, techniques, standards - Full use general application of standard principles, theories, concepts, techniques - Deep knowledge of online design principles, trends, competition, technical limitation in order to design products relationships between suites of related products appropriately - A detailed knowledge of the web development process - Proficiency in Macromedia Dreamweaver Adobe Photoshop preferred - Proficient w/ setting up, installing configuring computer hardware software - Basic customer or industry experience required - Solid knowledge background in usability methodologies required - Competency in statistical analysis required
