Summary of work:

The UX Engineer works collaboratively with company’s product development team applying industry best practice and creative approach in order to ensure that product software user interfaces, layouts and navigation are highly usable, fully accessible and look professional and appealing.

The UX Engineer enables and makes design decisions that make difference to the usability of the company products.

The UX Engineer strives to understand the preferences of the company’s user base in order to improve overall user satisfaction.

The UX Engineer is a hands-on professional, skilled in visual design and web technologies.

Key Accountabilities, Duties Responsibilities:

·         Works within a virtual, multidisciplinary User Experience team which defines and executes user- and usage-centered design strategies based on consideration of market research, business requirements, customer feedback, and the findings of user research and usability studies.

·         Defines UI layout of controls, content and navigation through the use of conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups, and rapid prototypes of key UI elements.

·         Conduct usability analysis of prototype and existing software where appropriate.

·         Promptly and effectively communicates recommendations, design work, and research findings with company product key stakeholders

·         Contributes to the visual design and construction of product UI

 Competencies and Personal Attributes

·         Fully versed in wire-framing, rapid prototyping and storyboarding skills

·         Fully versed in techniques for defining a visual design language and visual hierarchy.

·         Understands user-centered design techniques such as user interviews, surveys, contextual inquiry, usability inspections, and usability testing

·         Experience developing and documenting user roles, task flows, GUI screens and interaction design

·         Experience with common Web technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript

·         Strong interpersonal communications skills including the ability to communicate at multiple levels in organization and to convey design decisions.

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills

·         Strong and dedicated team player

·         Comfortable working within rapid design and development cycles with changing priorities

 

Education/Experience:

·         A degree or diploma in Computer Science or another related field (e.g. human-computer interaction, human factors, cognitive science, interactive arts and technology, etc.)

·         4+ years of experience in front-end web design with demonstrated experience with Web technologies and standards such as HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, JBoss SEAM

·         2+ years of experience in user interface design and user interaction development with demonstrated experience in developing user interfaces for commercial software products

·         Familiarity with some or all of the following design, content creation and development tools: Balsamiq Mockups, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Visio
