Role Title: Valuation Controller: Emerging Markets
Role Purpose
- Primary purpose is to ensure that processes are accurately followed so specific parts of the Balance Sheet for the Emerging Market Business are appropriately valued with respect to current best practice and Accounting Standards
- A member of a team of approximately 7 controllers responsible for the day to day production of Primary Trading System Sourced PL, PL commentary, attributed PL and off-market rate checking.
- To be able to provide cover for some of the Valuation Control team members
- To ensure that simple Model Limitations are appropriately dealt with for both new products and existing products as market conditions change.
- To work with Business Financial Control to deliver a single view of the PL and Balance Sheet
- To build relationships with key stakeholders including other Product Control Functions, IT, Operations, Front Office, Group Finance, Market Risk Management and Credit Risk Management.
Education / Relevant Experience
Required
• Very good analytical skills, supported by numerate degree at 2:1 level or above (or equivalent);
• Either Qualified Accountant supported by numerical degree, or post graduate with experience working in analytical Product Control role;
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to be able to face off to management, both oral and written;
• Strong IT skills;
Desirable
• IFRS accounting knowledge and Product Control knowledge will be considered an advantage;
• Good knowledge of Emerging Markets an advantage;
• Experience of working in a Valuation Control function, with strong control focus;
• Familiarity with EMx/Murex, Bloomberg, Calypso, Treats, OTP, or Summit an advantage;
• MSc in numerical discipline an advantage;
