VAT Manager / Senior Manager

Hays Taxation are working with a Top 10 firm in Norwich, to source an experienced VAT Manager to provide advisory services for a wide range of clients in East Anglia.

The role will involve developing and managing a portfolio of clients, providing support to the regional VAT Director to develop the VAT practice in East Anglia, and contributing to the growth of the firm in the region

· Managing and developing a portfolio of clients in the East Anglia region.
- Providing assistance and support to other VAT specialists
· Taking responsibility for the delivery of advice to clients and colleagues.
· Ensuring assignments are completed within agreed budgets
· Reviewing the work prepared by other members of staff.
· Ensure that the firms quality control procedures are adhered to as appropriate.
· Identifying risk and technical matters, as well as selling opportunities, to the VAT Director / local Partners.
· Ensure the firms professional standards are met.
· Supervise, support and develop more junior staff; both on-site at client premises and whilst in the office.
· Work as part of the management team with other Tax managers providing support to the rest of the Tax team.
· Assist in the provision of training to more junior staff
· Counsel, appraise, develop and motivate staff as appropriate
· Participate in bids/proposals for new work as requested.
· Get to know the firms clients in the region, with a view to developing VAT work from existing clients.
· Participate in the region wider marketing activities
· Attend networking events etc, and develop professional relationships with clients.
· Provide an efficient and pro active service to clients and ensure that the clients needs are fully met.
· Pay attention to self-development and progress within the firm
· Consult with colleagues and Partners on technical and risk matters.
· To support and work as a team player, whilst being able to work on own initiative
· Starting to gain staff management and supervisory experience.

The Successful Candidate

· A good grounding in VAT matters, both advisory and compliance.
· Ability to manage a small client portfolio.
· Actively seek opportunities for selling new services to existing clients.
- Identifies opportunities to sell to non-clients.
· Some experience of dealing with client senior management.
· Educated to degree level, and/or CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent.
· Demonstrable post qualified experience.
