The individual will be a leveraged loan and high yield bond covenant specialist in the Americas, and will be based in New York:
* Will work under considerable time pressure in meeting deadlines for covenant reports on new leveraged loan and new bond issuance.
* Will produce reports on existing loans and bonds and ultimately have responsibility to review and approve reports drafted by junior staff.
* Must be capable of accurately summarizing complex structures in accessible prose for Moody's research clients, with the ability to grasp and make sound statistical inferences in comparing loan and bond structures.
* Over time the individual will develop a reputation as a highly respected commentator on loan and bond covenant structures used in the Americas.

Responsibilities include:
* Analyzing and summarizing the strengths/ weaknesses of a loan or bond covenant package and comparing it with other loans or bonds and the market norm in concise, crisply worded reports understandable to non-lawyer buy-side analysts.
* Providing backup support by working closely with the other team members in the NY, London and Hong Kong offices, frequently under considerable time pressure in meeting deadlines for covenant reports on new leveraged loan and high yield bond issuance
* Producing other covenant-related research, including a topical special reports
* Working closely with junior staff in using covenant database for covenant research
* Working closely with credit analysts in the Americas in sourcing documents for new issue reports
* Responding to covenant-related inquiries from research clients as well as media
* Supporting the development of covenant service through participation in meetings with research clients and prospects
Qualifications
* 6 years or more of transactional experience in loan documentation, specializing in leveraged loans
* Graduate of an accredited law school (JD degree) and admission to practice in New York
* Experience as lead attorney representing borrowers / administrative agents in drafting and negotiating loan agreements
* Experience representing issuers / underwriters in drafting and negotiating offering memoranda and indentures a plus, but not required
* Experience working in a team environment and strong interpersonal skills
* Pro-active self starter with a demonstrated ability to work efficiently and with minimal supervision
* Strong analytical orientation
* Ability to confidently interact with research clients and media and, internally, with credit analysts, in representing Moody's corporate franchise and enhancing credibility of the covenant service
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work with a wide variety of constituents
* Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
* Ability to prioritize and multi-task
