Responsibilities
- Provide timely, accurate, and actionable sanctions advice and counsel to all lines of business in the AsiaPac region, including China, Hong Kong, Japn, Singapore, India and other countries, for each country's local sanctions, for the US and for the company's internal program requirements.
- Conduct periodic assessment of economic sanctions risks present in the company's varied lines of business, products, services, and customers.
- Review potential economic sanctions risks associated with complex investment banking transactions, wealth management relationships, or other customer relationship or transactional matters.
- Support enterprise-wide sanctions compliance strategy and associated work as directed by the Global Economic Sanctions Executive.
- Lead and conduct training on US and local sanctions to various lines of business and enterprise counterparts.
Requirements
- Juris doctorate or graduate degree
- Expert knowledge of economic sanctions laws and regulations for the U.S. / OFAC and each country within the AsiaPac region in which Bank of America operates
- Minimum 4 years of substantive economic sanctions experience in the government, a financial institution, or law firm
- Strong organizational skills to handle a wide range of economic sanctions and risk management issues
- Prior experience in leading or project managing small teams
- Excellent research and writing skills
- Extremely detail-oriented to ensure quality and accurate work product
- Proven ability to work in a highly independent manner in a fast-paced environment with minimal day-to-day direction or supervision
- Highly analytical thinking, with experience in legal and/or regulatory analysis
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with lines of business and regulators at all levels of seniority
- Knowledge of and experience with US economic sanctions and OFAC laws and regulations
- Knowledge of and experience with anti-money laundering (AML) laws and regulations
